While Kentucky Housing Corporation’s (KHC) Housing Choice Voucher (HCV/Section 8) waiting list is closed, we offer many other specialized programs for Kentuckians with specific needs. Explore the categories below to see if you qualify for assistance.

Specialized Voucher Program

These programs provide a voucher to help you pay rent in a unit you choose. Each program is for a specific group of people, such as veterans, families, or individuals with disabilities.

Stability Vouchers (SV)

Provides rental assistance for individuals and families who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness, or are fleeing domestic violence, dating violence, or human trafficking.

Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Program

A voluntary program for HUD-assisted families that helps increase earnings and builds a financial savings (escrow) account.

Family Unification Program (FUP)

Provides housing assistance to families where the lack of adequate housing is a primary factor in the separation of children, or for youth aging out of foster care.

Mainstream Vouchers

Assists households that include a non-elderly person with disabilities.

Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (VASH)

A partnership with the VA to provide permanent housing and supportive case management services to homeless veterans.

Other Housing Programs

These programs provide housing and support services at specific properties for Kentuckians in unique situations, like students or those in recovery.

Housing Opportunities for Persons With AIDS (HOPWA)

Provides housing and supportive services for low-income persons (and their families) who are living with HIV/AIDS.

Recovery Kentucky

Provides housing and recovery services to help Kentuckians recover from substance abuse, which often leads to chronic homelessness.

Scholar House

A program for single parents pursuing higher education that provides affordable housing, child development services, and case management on the same campus.
