A picture of the front facade of KHC

Created in 1972 by the General Assembly, Kentucky Housing Corporation (KHC) is a quasi-governmental agency — a self-supporting, public corporation of the Commonwealth of Kentucky — administratively attached to the Kentucky Finance and Administration Cabinet. The corporation receives income from interest earned through the sale of tax-exempt mortgage revenue bonds and fee income for administering federal programs, including the Housing Choice Voucher (also known as Section 8) program. Other affordable housing initiatives offered by KHC include rental housing financing, including Low-Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC), homeownership education and counseling, housing rehabilitation, homeless programs, energy and repair initiatives, and mortgage servicing.
