Can I Buy a Home with a KHC Loan?

We want to help as many people as we can become homeowners here in Kentucky. You can check out the general requirements for Kentucky Housing Corporation’s (KHC) loans and programs for homebuyers below. Don’t worry if it feels like a lot—everyone’s situation is a little different and we’re here to help. The best way to see what you qualify for is to chat with one of our approved lenders. They’ll walk you through it and help you get started. (Find an Approved Lender)

General Requirements

While your lender will confirm your specific eligibility, here are the three main areas we review for our loan programs.

Credit Score

You don't need a perfect credit score to qualify for a KHC loan. We offer programs with flexible credit requirements, with a minimum of 620 for FHA, VA, and RHS loans. A lender can help you understand your score and your options.

Household Income

Our programs are designed to help a wide range of Kentuckians. While income limits vary by program and county, our most common program has limits that range from $147,350 to $195,650.

Don't worry about the exact limits; an approved lender is the best person to help you figure out which program fits your situation.

Home Purchase Price Limits

Our loan programs can be used for homes with a purchase price up to $566,354.

 Don’t Disqualify Yourself!

Don't rule yourself out for KHC's homeownership programs; the only way to know if you're eligible is to speak with a KHC-approved lender. They will provide a free, no-obligation review of your situation and can even help get you ready for homeownership.
