KHC's Asset Management and Compliance conducts inspections on KHC-assisted rental properties to ensure they meet federal and state requirements as well as criteria specified in funding agreements and contracts. These on-site and desk reviews provide tenants of our rental assistance programs and multifamily dwellings a safe, comfortable place to live.
Rental assistance programs generally require a Housing Quality Standards (HQS) inspection while compliance reviews can require Uniform Physical Condition Standards (UPCS), Habitability, or HQS inspections. Since preparation for a Habitability inspection is similar to Housing Quality Standards, the training materials below will focus on the two most widely used inspection types - HQS and UPCS.
