What is the Section 8 Rental Assistance Program and how do I apply?
This federal program was created to help eligible participants rent safe, quality, and sanitary housing. The U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) provides funding and guidelines that you must follow.
How does the waiting list work?
To get started, you will need to complete the preapplication that will be available when the list is accepting applications.
Kentucky Housing will send you a letter when your name reaches the top of the waiting list. When you receive this letter you will need to contact one of our offices (a name and phone number will be included in the letter) to notify us of your continued interest in the program.
What happens after I call to confirm my interest in receiving rental assistance?
Your contact person will mail paperwork to you to be completed and returned in order to determine your eligibility. If you are eligible, we will schedule an appointment for you with a Kentucky Housing staff member who will explain the program and issue you a voucher.
