Kentucky Housing Corporation is mandated by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) every other year to conduct a Point-In-Time statewide count of Kentucky's homeless. Kentucky conducts the count every year. Findings from the homeless count demonstrate the need for resources for housing and services for homeless persons in each community. The count also helps determine how much federal funding will be awarded from HUD for homeless programs. In addition, the count helps assess progress under Kentucky's Ten-Year Plan to End Homelessness and provide important information for updating the plan. The count takes place every year on the last Thursday in January.
If you'd like to work with future Point-In-Time statewide counts, contact one of the coordinators in your region to participate. Results from previous Point-In-Time Counts are also available.
