Charlie Smith - Instructor
Charlie has 12 years’ experience in the Department of Energy Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP), and has spent seven years as an Energy Auditor and 7 years as a Monitor/Trainer in the energy field. Charlie holds Contractor/Master Electrical licensure, Low-, Medium-, and High-Voltage Mine Electrical licensure and HVAC licenses, as well as Level 1 Thermography and Master Mechanic certifications. Charlie is Building Performance Institute (BPI) certified as a Quality Control Inspector, Energy Auditor, and Building Analyst, and is BPI-certified in Infiltration and Duct Leakage. Charlie has used his expertise in the building science industry to train energy professionals across the country.
Troy Gosser - Instructor
Troy has 11 years’ experience in the Department of Energy's WAP, and has spent six years as an Energy Auditor. Troy is a BPI-certified Quality Control Inspector, Energy Auditor, and Building Analyst, and is BPI-certified in Infiltration and Duct Leakage, as well as holds Level 1 Thermography certification. Troy is certified by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as a lead-based paint renovator and is trained in construction safety under Occupational Safety and Health Administration standards. Troy brings with him 10 years of experience in the private-market building construction industry.
Dewayne Cade - Instructor
Dewayne has eight years’ experience in the Department of Energy Weatherization Assistance Program performing comprehensive energy audits of single-family dwellings and quality control inspections of technical work. Dewayne is a BPI-certified Quality Control Inspector, a certified Dwelling Needs Evaluator, holds Level 1 Thermography certification, and is certified by the EPA as a lead-based paint renovator. He is trained in duct leakage diagnostics, zonal pressure diagnostics and combustion appliance zone safety. Dewayne is also trained in health and safety under Occupational Safety and Health Administration standards. Dewayne serves as the state technical monitor for Kentucky’s WAP network.
Deanna McCord - Training Initiatives Coordinator
Deanna has more than 20 years’ experience in the compliance field serving clients in both the public and private sectors. Prior to joining REE, Deanna headed up the Compliance Department of Kentucky Housing Corporation, coordinating the oversight of more than $100 million
annually of federal grants. Over the course of her career, Deanna has developed and delivered training programs on a variety of topics, including regulatory compliance, federal grants management, environmental health, and business administration.
John Cora - Assistant Director, Design and Construction
John was instrumental in the establishment of the REE training center in 2010. With nearly 45 years’ experience in construction and building science, John continues to serve the training center in a technical consulting role and provides guidance on the training needs of building science professionals and the KY WAP network. John is a Level III Certified Kentucky Building Inspector, a member of the Code Administrators Association of Kentucky, and a Kentucky-certified Dwelling Needs Evaluator.
Megan Montgomery - Administrative Assistant
Megan provides administrative support for the training center and is the primary contact for customers to coordinate training and testing services. Prior to joining the REE team in 2017, Megan worked in the commercial housing finance industry in both the public and private sectors. Megan’s experience along with her customer service expertise enables her to easily guide customers to the appropriate education courses to meet their professional needs.
