A grand opening of the new Louisville Scholar House was held October 7 with representatives of Kentucky Housing Corporation (KHC), University of Louisville, Family Scholar House (formerly Project Women), Marian Development Group and state and local officials. This new initiative will provide affordable housing, counseling and on-site childcare for individuals who are pursuing post-secondary education. The Louisville Scholar House is the second to open in the state. |

Representatives of Kentucky Housing Corporation, Wabuck Development Company, Audubon Area Community Service, Inc. and state and local officials held the grand opening of Owensboro’s new Learning Villa Scholar House on September 22. This new initiative will provide affordable housing, counseling and on-site childcare for individuals who are pursuing post-secondary education. The Learning Villa is the first Scholar House to open in the state. |

| Ribbon Cutting Takes Place at Liberty Place Recovery Center (9/15/2008 2:30:05 PM) |
Kentucky First Lady and Recovery Kentucky Task Force Co-Chair Jane Beshear, Richmond Mayor Connie Lawson and several guests participated in a ribbon cutting in Richmond today for Liberty Place Recovery Center for Women. The center is one of ten recovery centers that will simultaneously reduce the state’s drug and homeless problems. Liberty Place will provide counseling, support and hope for up to 100 women at a time who are recovering from drug and alcohol addiction. |

| Kentucky Housing Announces Recipients for May 2008 AHTF Awards (7/7/2008 11:30:35 AM) |
Kentucky Housing Corporation (KHC) is pleased to announce the latest round of funding from the Affordable Housing Trust Fund (AHTF). During the May 2008 supplemental round, KHC received 11 applications requesting more than $1,500,000 to produce over 60 units. Kentucky Housing awarded $1,018,414 to six recipients to produce new single-family housing or to preserve existing homes, totaling 27 units this round. |

Governor Steve Beshear and Kentucky Housing Corporation (KHC) have announced the latest recipients of Emergency Shelter Grant (ESG) funds. Forty-two projects, outside of Fayette and Jefferson Counties, proposed by nonprofit agencies and local governments will receive a total of $1,330,256 from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to assist the homeless in Kentucky. |

| Governor Signs Bill to Help an Additional 25,000 Home Buyer Households (4/11/2008 3:25:55 PM) |
Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear today signed House Bill 373, which doubles the debt ceiling of Kentucky Housing Corporation (KHC), the commonwealth’s housing finance agency. This increase from $2.5 billion to $5 billion will enable the agency to assist at least 25,000 additional households with safe, secure home mortgage loans. |

Kentucky Housing Corporation has announced the latest round of funding from the Affordable Housing Trust Fund (AHTF), HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME) Program, Small Multifamily Affordable Loan (SMAL) Program and Low Income Housing Tax Credits (Housing Credit). Twenty-nine recipient projects around the state will create 1,043 total units of affordable housing in Kentucky communities. Total program funding amounts are $3,993,856 AHTF; $3,951,915 HOME; $500,000 SMAL; and $7,284,306 Housing Credit. |

Kentucky Housing Corporation is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2008 HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME) and Affordable Housing Trust Fund (AHTF) competitive funding round for homeownership production projects. Twenty-one applicants around the state will receive over $5,600,000 in HOME funds and $2,000,000 in AHTF funds to produce new single-family housing or to preserve existing homes, totaling approximately 200 units. |

Cook had served in this post since 2004 following his retirement from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in Louisville. Under his leadership, Kentucky Housing continued the advancement of affordable housing and developed additional initiatives to serve Kentucky’s most vulnerable residents. |
