Kentucky Housing Corporation Honors Top Lenders

Lending Partners Enable Kentuckians to Secure Safe Home Loans

Kentucky Housing Corporation (KHC), the state housing finance agency, recognized its 2009 top lending partners of affordable mortgage loans at the Fifth Annual Lender Luncheon today, Tuesday, March 9, in Frankfort.

Kentuckians who receive a loan from KHC work with one of 130 lending partner banks and mortgage companies located in communities throughout the state.  KHC offers loans for first-time buyers and previous homeowners in targeted counties.  Since its creation in 1972, more than 81,000 Kentucky households have become homeowners by obtaining a KHC loan.

Brenda Walker, senior director of Kentucky Housing’s Homeownership Department, said, “Our lending partners are the bridge between our home loan products and the Kentuckians we serve.  We at Kentucky Housing Corporation appreciate the commitment of these top producers to help us lead Kentucky homebuyers toward our affordable, trustworthy mortgage products.”

Kentucky Housing Corporation offers at or below-market-rate home loans, at a 30-year fixed interest rate including conventional, Federal Housing Administration, Veterans Administration, and Rural Housing Services loans.  Several down payment assistance programs are available to help home buyers afford closing costs and down payment requirements.  Free homeownership education and financial counseling are also available.

“While the entire mortgage market faced challenges in 2009, we worked with our congressional delegation, National Council of State Housing Finance Agencies, and the Department of Treasury to find creative, responsible ways to get back into the housing market to serve those desiring to become homeowners,” said Richard L. McQuady, Kentucky Housing Corporation’s chief executive officer.

“We appreciate the efforts and dedication of all our lenders,” he said.  “These partnerships will also play a key part in KHC’s goal of assisting 3,500 home buyers acquire homes in 2010.”
