Constituent & Legislative Affairs Specialist (May 9, 2008)Please Respond by: Friday, May 16, 2008

Primary responsibilities are to respond to constituent requests from federal and state legislative offices, the Governor’s office and private individuals. Position has been designated responsibility of the Governor’s Mail Log, which involves retrieving assignments via password protected web site. Ultimately responsible for addressing assignments by Governor’s Office and constituent requests for federal and state legislators, city and county governments, nonprofits, potential homeowners and renters. Tracking both state and federal legislation requires active involvement in the legislative process by scrutinizing pending laws in the Kentucky General Assembly and the U.S. Congress, interacting with NCSHA staff and acting as liaison between KHC and legislative, state and federal offices and agencies and compiling reports.  Primarily responsible for addressing open records requests per Kentucky’s Open Records Act statutes. Create correspondence for Chief Executive Officer and Chief Counsel on intersection between projects and elected officials. Guide and assist KHC staff with personal services contracts regarding the request for proposals process, processing, filing and tracking contracts as well as providing guidance about procurement practices.  Assist Chief Counsel with research, special projects and other duties as assigned.
